Will Ferrell does his Christmas movie in Elf, a film that isn't quite as filled with the holiday mush that comes with Christmas movies. Ferrell plays Buddy, a human that ends up in the North Pole as a baby and is raised as an elf for the next 30 years. He learns about his dad (James Caan) and goes to New York to meet him. You can tell that this movie is going to be full of the usual sentiment of a fish out of water story and it essential is sprinkled with the standard holiday messages that Hollywood seems to use to cleanse its soul every November and December. What makes this move a little better than average is one thing:
James Caan.
That's right. James Caan. The man. The myth. The Legend. He just looks like he's ready to punch someone throughout the entire film. And that's what makes this an above average holiday flick.
